
After organisers Muscat Road Runners joined forces with Oman Sail in a bid to develop the annual event into a ‘must-do’ race with global appeal, there’s been another boost for the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon: Horizon Fitness has been announced as the official fitness partner for the 2017 edition.
To support runners’ preparations for the event on the 27th January 2017, Horizon Fitness will host an Al Mouj Muscat Marathon Workout Tour. This will take place at Sultan Qaboos Stadium from this Friday, 9th December and participation is completely free of charge.
Those wishing to participate should arrive from 8am (for a complimentary t-shirt and handout) and then prepare for the workout, which will start at 9am. Every training session will incorporate a warm up, cross training and a run. Each tour date will last just over an hour, during which water will be provided.
Chad Zlateff, who has 18 years of experience as a personal trainer, will host the marathon training sessions. Originally from Seattle in the USA, Chad moved to Oman in 2008. His background is in exercise physiology and he spent 9 years playing Soccer professionally in Germany and Switzerland. “As an avid obstacle course racer and all around sports fanatic, I’m delighted that I’ll be preparing this year’s marathon runners for Muscat’s big event! Training together for endurance events is really motivating. I’m looking forward to hosting a weekly workout that offers the highest quality of training – and great preparation for the challenges that lie ahead.”
The workout tour offers runners the chance to boost their marathon training in a really fun, social environment. It also promises to support whichever of the three distances people have signed up to run on the 27th January. The workout tour will be hosted on:
